Selma teenager shot outside First Avenue Mini Mart

A Selma teenager was shot in a drive-by shooting Tuesday at the First Avenue Mini Mart.

According to Interim Selma Police Department (SPD) Chief Robert W. Green, a 19-year-old was shot in the left wrist in the parking lot of First Avenue Mini Mart, located on 1706 First Ave. at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, according to Green who did not identify the victim.

Green said that the victim would not cooperate with SPD officers and refused to provide information relative to the first-degree assault shooting.

Witnesses informed investigators that several suspects in a silver or gray vehicle pulled into the parking lot and fired multiple rounds at the victim while he was about to enter the store. They said that the suspects sped away after shooting the victim.

Green said the case is currently under investigation by the SPD’s Criminal Investigation Division.
