Southside High, Dallas County High each pull off dramatic victories

Dre Williams scored two touchdowns as Southside High held off Beulah 36-34 on Friday night.
Mar-Keis Cole, Ernest Hatcher and Taye Spears also scored for the Panthers (2-2 overall, 2-1 in Region 3, Class 3A).
“We’re all excited about being 2-1 in the Region, it’s awesome,” Panthers coach Charles Moody said. “We’re giving ourselves an opportunity to win games. We’re playing disciplined.”
Dallas County 30, Sipsey Valley 14: The Hornets (2-2, 2-1 Region 3, Class 4A) won their second straight contest, prevailing in Buhl.
Keith Thomas ran for 77 yards and scored a touchdown. Aaron Fails added 71 yards and a touchdown. Calvin Griffin threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Jaylin Callens. Markeice Stallworth scored on a fumble return.
“The kids are working and buying into what we’re preaching them,” Hornets coach Heath LeVert said. “The defense stepped up in the second half and we scored a defensive touchdown. The kids are working hard.”
Glenwood 49, Morgan Academy 20: The Senators dropped to 1-4.
Morgan Academy’s touchdowns came on Josh Brown’s 75-yard kickoff return, Matthew Free’s 30-yard run and Andrew Thomas’ 1-yard run.
McAdory 44, Selma High 6: The Saints fall to 3-2. Selma High’s only touchdown came on a kickoff return by Trent Waller.
