A former Georgia football coach is the guest speaker the Selma Quarterback Club on Monday at 6 p.m. at the Selma Convention Center.

Jim Donnan, who coached the Bulldogs from 1996-2000, will be making his second appearance over the last four years. He spoke at the Quarterback Club in 2015.

Donnan, 74, was also offensive coordinator for Oklahoma from 1985 to 1989 under Barry Switzer, winning a national championship. Donnan coached Marshall University from 1990-1995, winning the Division I-AA national title.

Selma Quarterback Club Captain Bob Frazer said it’s always a pleasure to have Donnan speak.

“Anytime you have a former SEC head coach, it is always entertaining,” Frazer said. “They still have good connections. Best of all, they have a much different point of view than the average fan. He has spoken in the past and has been well received.”

Donnan was born in Laurens, South Carolina, but grew up in Burlington, North Carolina. He was quarterback at North Carolina State from 1965-67. In 1967, Donnan earned ACC Player Of The Year honors and led the Wolfpack to a 14-7 victory over Georgia in the Liberty Bowl that same season.
