“We are rebuilding both the varsity and junior varsity teams,” Lady Saints head coach and Athletic Director Katasha Turner said. “We only have one senior and we’re playing mostly sophomores and juniors.”

The Lady Mustangs (6-7, 1-0) took control from the opening minutes.  Stanhope Elmore reeled off the game’s first 10 points and never looked back.

In the second set, Stanhope Elmore led 14-2 and cruised to an easy win.

Selma improved in the third set, leading 15-11. But Stanhope Elmore went on a 9-0 run and completed the sweep.

“We played as a team, that’s the biggest thing,” Lady Mustangs coach Virginia Barber said. “You always want to win the first area game.”
