Valley Grande City Council passes 3 resolutions

The Valley Grande City Council passed three resolutions at its council meeting on Monday.
The entire council was present for the meeting: Mayor Matt Dobbs, Tim White, Ronald Sawyer, Jimmy Johnson, Lamar Morgan and Tammy Troha.
The first item passed was Resolution 2019-103, the Rebuild Alabama Act Transportation Plan. Dobbs said Valley Grande will get a percentage of the state gas tax to get used for fixing roads in the city. Dobbs also said an account will be open to accept funds and must work with the Dallas County Commission.
According to Dobbs, the estimated allocation is $24,669 for the first fiscal year, which starts Oct. 1 and ends on Sept. 30, 2020. The funds will increase each year.
The second item passed was Resolution 2019-104, authorizing Gabe’s Corner to get a beer and wine license.
The third item passed was Resolution 2019-105, authorizing Valley Grande Grocery, LLC to get a beer and wine license for the new owner.
The other topic discussed was the city budget. Dobbs said the council will sometime next week to finalize the city’s Fiscal budget for 2020. The current fiscal year ends Sept. 30, with the next year beginning Oct. 1.
The next Valley Grande Council meeting will be held on Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall.
