Following back-to-back budget hearings Thursday evening, the Dallas County Board of Education unanimously approved its budget for the 2020 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1, and will end Sept. 30, 2020.
Dallas County Schools Chief School Financial Officer (CSFO) Sandra Purdie went through key parts of the proposed budget during the hearing preceding Thursday’s meeting and answered questions from board members afterwards.
The total beginning balance for the annual budget is $3,115,650.01 and the projected ending balance is $3,187,706.21.
Total state revenues projected in the budget are $24,888,873.00.
Total federal revenues projected in the budget are $7,330,909.00.
Total local revenues projected in the budget are $4,692,501.74.
Additional revenues from other financing sources are projected at $1,157,390.98.
Total revenues including all resources are projected to be $38,147,474.72.
Total expenditures for the projected budget are $37,095,232.96.
After the regularly scheduled board meeting took place after the budget hearings, Dallas County Board of Education President Leroy Miles made a point to commend Purdie in her presentation of the budget, her first after taking over as CSFO from Brenda Turner.
Purdie was chosen by the board as CSFO at the April 18 meeting.
“I commend you Miss Purdie on getting your first budget hearing done,” said Miles. “It went well. It was explained very well. You’re off to a great start and you have our support. You’re doing a good job and we appreciate what you’re doing.”
“Thank you,” said Purdie in response.
