Selma Police officer injured in fight

A Selma Police Officer was injured during an altercation Sunday morning at Michael’s Pub that led to three arrests.
According to Interim Selma Police Chief Robert W. Green, SPD officers responded to a fight call on the block of 3548 Highway 80 West around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Green said officers attempted to break up the fight, but an officer was attacked by five to six individuals. The officer was knocked to the ground, got kicked and was stomped by the suspects. The officer was transported to the Vaughan Regional Medical Center Emergency Room where he was treated and released. Green did not reveal the officer’s identity.
Shemeka Mendenhall, 22, Tamarcus Talton, 29 and Martavious Jones, 24, were arrested by the SPD and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer in addition to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The Selma residents were booked and transported to the Dallas County Jail.
According to Dallas County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Mendenhall, Talton and Jones all made bond. Their bond total was $27,000 each.
Green said the case is currently under investigation by the SPD’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
