- Selma University athletic director and head baseball coach Adrian Holloway earned the 100th win of his career this past Tuesday after sweeping Rust College. Holloway earned all of his wins with the Bulldogs since he began coaching the team in 2014.
Selma University Athletic Director Adrian Holloway confirmed to The Selma Times-Journal Wednesday that the school’s athletic department has been closed.
Holloway, who was also the school’s baseball coach, said he received notificiation from a baseball player.
“One of my players went to the school to register, they told him the Athletic Department was shut down,” Holloway said. “The school President, Dr. Alvin Cleveland, did not inform me he was shutting down the Athletic Department. My athletes were left in the cold.”
Holloway said he believed Cleveland was upset over several baseball players addressing the School’s Board of Trustees over the athletic department.
“The players had a right to see the board when they met on campus,” Holloway said. “Cleveland did not like that and he blamed me for the situation. I got reprimanded.”
Holloway said he helped the school’s 32 baseball players find new schools to transfer.
“I was able to get those kids into new schools,” Holloway said. “One door closes, and God opens up another door.”
Holloway said he’s been looking for new employment, but did not reveal any of those opportunitues.
The Selma Times-Journal reached out several times to Cleveland, but he did not return any calls.
