Elizabeth Maples Traylor

Elizabeth (“Betty”) Maples Traylor, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home August 26, 2019, surrounded by family. She was born March 3, 1944 in Lauderdale County. Mrs. Traylor was preceded in death by her parents Raymond D. Maples, Sr. and Mildred F. Maples, and infant daughter, Elizabeth Clayton Traylor.
Mrs. Traylor is survived by her loving husband of 46 years John Bryant Traylor, Jr.; daughter Rebekah Maples Traylor of Fairhope, son John Bryant Traylor, III (Jodi) of Fairhope; granddaughters, Elizabeth (“Ella”) Traylor and Gracyn Traylor; brother Raymond D. Maples, Jr. (Janie) of Selma, nephews, Bill Maples, Stephen Maples and Traylor Champion; nieces, Amanda Maples, Carol Lambert, Margaret Mott, Nancy Elliot; and great niece, Lillian Elizabeth Karlsen Maples, and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28 at 10 a.m. at Benton Baptist Church with the service to follow at 11a.m. directed by Lawrence Brown Funeral Services, and the Rev. Lee Tate officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Maples, Stephen Maples, Traylor Champion, Chuck Lambert, Britt Mott, and Duke Logan, Jr.
Mrs. Traylor was a Licensed Social Worker who served Selma, Dallas County, and surrounding counties in a career which spanned over forty years. She served as the Medical Social Services Director of New Vaughan Memorial Hospital for many years. In addition, she ministered to others in both the home health care field and hospice care. While she was highly respected by patients and co-workers in her chosen field, her greatest roles were those of Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
