The Selma – Dallas County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Dallas County Commission will host a “60 Minute Coffee” next Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
The event, scheduled to be held in the community room at Trustmark Bank, will allow the community to begin the day with a cup of coffee provided by The Coffee Shoppe and hear updates from the Dallas County Commission and Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to come and interact with the county commission and myself,” said Nunn. “As elected officials, we need to be open and transparent and all of that.”
In addition to Nunn several of the county’s department heads have made plans to be at the event including Dallas County Engineer Coosa Jones, Dallas County Attorney John Kelly and Dallas County Administrator Barbara Harrell.
Many of the Dallas County Commissioners have said at recent commission meetings that they will not be able to attend next Tuesday’s event, but District 1 Commissioner Valerie Reubin has confirmed that she’ll attend the event.
“The community members are the ones who elected us to office,” said Reubin. “So it’s important we listen to their concerns and opinions.”
The “60 Minute Coffee” will take place next Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 8 – 9 a.m. in the community room at Trustmark Bank.
Coffee and light refreshments will be provided by The Coffee Shoppe.
The community is encouraged to attend.
