Local attorney, farmer joins statewide mediation firm

Jay Minter, a longtime Selma legal professional and farmer, recently joined The Neutral Solution, a community of Alabama-based mediators focused on mediation and arbitration services, . The Birmingham-based company opened in late January with the mission of bringing together professional mediators with an eye toward giving them increased opportunities.

Minter graduates cum laude from Jones School of Law at Faulkner University after spending more than 20 years as a sixth-generation farmer in Dallas County.

Minter is currently pursing his Latin Legum Magister (LLM) in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law.

“I love mediation because it’s the best way to work things out in an orderly manner,” Minter said. “It’s mentally stimulating to quickly and accurately assess everything that is going on in those rooms, what isn’t being said, figure out the pieces to the puzzle and find what is acceptable to both parties.”

In a press release from The Neutral Solution, the company noted that Minter became interested in mediation and arbitration while attending law school and pursused additional training to become a registered mediator in Alabama.

Further, the press release said, Minter’s “extensive agricultyure and agribusiness knowledge” will be integral in addressing problems related for farming.

“I have more than 20 years of dealing with these issues as a businessman, so my experience will be invaluable to my clients,” Minter said. “I look forward to helping others navigate these complex situations so everyone is pleased with the outcome.”
