The Selma Police Department is investigating a shooting involving former State Rep. James Thomas.
Selma Interim Police Chief Robert Green said the Wilcox County Sheriff’s office asked the SPD to check on Thomas. The SPD found bullet holes and blood evidence in Thomas’ car on Aug. 5. Thomas said that someone fired at his vehicle in the GWC homes. He was wounded in the accident, but has recovered.
Thomas did not report the incident, but SPD is investigating what took place.
Thomas was a state rep for 28 years, representing Dallas, Lowndes, Autauga and Wilcox counties. Thomas worked as a representative since the 1982 election until losing to David Colston in 2010. The former Wilcox Central Principal received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Alabama State University.
