All in Sports Outreach hosted a tennis camp this week at the Selma City Tennis Courts.
Instructor Nez Vaval hosted over 100 kids during the four-day camp. Vaval leads Vaval Tennis.
Vaval, InShape Fitness Tennis coach, said he enjoyed the four-day event.
“I’m very pleased with the turnout,” Vaval said. “We had kids at every different level at the camp. We had a nice diverse group of kids who came to the camp.”
Vaval said the camp focused more than the sport of tennis.
“The theme for the first day of camp is love each other as you would yourself,” Vaval said. “The kids rallied around that. For me, it was about being an ambassador for the sport of tennis.”
Former Morgan Academy soccer player Ford Chittom said he appreciated Vaval volunteering his time to help the youth.
“I’ve really enjoyed seeing the impact Nez has had,” Chittom said. “It’s really great to see how hard he works. We needed something like this in the city of Selma.”
Tyler resident Daniel Johnson, 15, a home school student, said participating in the camp was a wonderful experience.
“It was fun being at the camp and seeing the kids being nice to each other,” Johnson said. “I was really surprised not to see at least one fight. The kids really enjoyed being around each other.”
