At the beginning of Thursday night’s Dallas County Board of Education meeting, Dallas County Schools employees were recognized as retirees.

Dallas County Schools Superintendent Hattie Shelton presented the retirees, including Bessie Frison, William Boley, Denise Hardy and Barbra Mosely, with a plaque commemorating their work within the school system over the past 19-29 years.

“There are several retirees here tonight and we just want to honor them for all of their hard work in our system,” said Shelton.

Hardy, at 25-year veteran in the Dallas County School system, thanked Shelton and the board for the recognition and fondly recollected her time in the school system.

“I’d just like to say that it has been a blessing to work for the system for this long,” said Hardy. “There’s been some good days and some bad days, but my good days have outweighed my bad.”

Mosely also stated that she has enjoyed her time in the school system and expressed her joy in working with the children of Dallas County Schools and Superintendent Shelton.

“I’d like to say that I have enjoyed these 29 years working with the kids and working with Mrs. Shelton… I’ve worked with mostly everybody. I just want to say that I’ve enjoyed and I’m glad to go home.”

Several of the board members weighed in to express their gratitude toward the now retried school employees and wished them the best.

“I hope you enjoy your retirement and wish you the best,” said Board Member Roy Edwards addressing Mosley. “And your husband too.”

“Thank y’all so much for your service,” added Board Member Mark Story. “Like you said, there are bad days, but good days do come and outweigh those [the bad]. I appreciate you service to the children and to your coworkers and mostly for affecting the lives of a lot of children. I appreciate that.”

Board Member Bill Minor echoed Story and Edward’s thanks by expressing his gratitude toward all four of the retirees.

“We thank you for your service and God bless you,” added Minor.

Board member Mamie Solomon also tacked on her thanks to the rest of the board members and encouraged the retirees to continue to be involved with the system.

“Congratulations,” she said. “We’d love to have you come back and visit or even volunteer. Come on back and see us. God bless you and thank you.”
