On Friday, August 2, the Selma Children’s Rehabilitation Service (CRS) will host its 2019 Summer Blast Family Resource and Fun Day at its office on Alabama Avenue.
The event is aimed at families of children and youth with specail healthcare needs in the Selma and Dallas County area and will feature of variety of activities, including food, face painting, resource information booths, a wheelchair wash and more.
According to CRS Social Worker Constance Phillips, the event is a way for the office to give back to the families they serve and let them know that the staff is invested in the well-being of their children.
“It’s important for our parents to attend because the most important thing for a parent of a youth or child with special healthcare needs is to be involved and be proactive in the care and development of their child,” Phillips said.
Along with the bevy of fun activities being offered, the event will feature speaker throughout the day that will provide helpful and relevant information on topics related to children and youth with special healthcare needs.
“We also have community providers that will bring resources and information that can be a means of support for parents taking care of children with special needs,” Phillips said. “In addition to being a learning event, it’s a fun day with family-friendly entertainment that will put smiles on everyone’s face.”
Phillips added that the event can be an “eye-opening experience” for parents unaware of the resources available to them.
