Turner Chevrolet held its Fourth Annual Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday.
Over 50 vehicles, a mixture of new and classic, were seen at the dealership location on 1800 Highway 14 East.
William Brown, the event’s coordinator, said he was pleased with the turnout that ranged from various parts of the state. He’s also a member of the Classic Car and Truck Club in Selma.
“I’ve attended car shows and bonded with car clubs,” Brown said. “The city of Selma needs all the help we can get. People coming here get to see the historical roadway of the Selma to Montgomery March.”
Pam Smith of the Capital City Corvette Club in Montgomery, said she always enjoy attending the event. She owns a 2005 Little Red Corvette.
“We love to support what William Brown is doing,” Smith said. “We want to support Selma. It’s a beautiful drive on Highway 80 from Montgomery to Selma.”
“It’s a nice day to come out and support the Chevrolet dealership in Selma,” said Jamar Brooks of the Capital City Corvette Club in Montgomery.
The local residents in attendance also enjoyed themselves.
“The appreciation day is a good thing for the community and it brings a lot of people here,” Classic Car and Truck Club President James Johnson said.
Brandon Shumate and his son DonAllen Shutmate, who live in the Dallas County community of Burnsville, both enjoyed themselves. This is the Shumate’s second straight year attending the event.
“It’s a lot of fun and you get to meet a lot of different people,” Brandon Shumate said. “It’s a lot of diversity, people from all backgrounds getting together for a common cause: their love for cars.”
