The American Legion will honor Veterans and first responders with Veterans Appreciation Day this Saturday.
The Appreciation Day event will take place at the National Guard Armory on Highway 80 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All branches of the United States Military will be honored at Saturday’s event including the Alabama National Guard, Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard.
In addition to branches of the military, first responders will also be recognized including police officers, firefighters and EMTs.
Those who attend this year’s Veterans Appreciation Day can expect to leave with a full stomach.
Catfish, chicken, BBQ will be served along with sides and drinks.
Army National Guard Recruiter Sgt. Antonio Pugh will be providing the food prepared by Golden Ranch BBQ and Grill.
2019 marks Pugh’s first year being involved in the event and he’s excited to see who shows up.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Pugh. “I’m excited to see the turnout.”
In addition to plenty of food and recognition of veterans and first responders, participants will have the opportunity to win one of several door prizes.
