A capacity crowd at Martin Stadium bid farewell to the Dallas County High School Class of 2019 on Tuesday.
Valedictorian Preston McGee delivered a powerful farewell address to his former classmates about the future. He will attend the University of Alabama this fall.
“Stay true to yourself and your values, don’t forget where you come from and remember those who helped you get here,” McGee said.
Salutatorian Hayden Cole urged his senior classmates to find something to get passionate about. He’s undecided on a college choice.
“Get passionate behind something,” Cole said. “Passion should be a part of your life.”
Senior class President J’Kiera Peterson urged the Class of 2019 to fight for their dreams in the future. Peterson will attend Alabama A&M in the fall.
“When you get out of school, stay focused,” Peterson said. “A high school diploma is a learner’s permit. Don’t let anyone discourage you and keep God first in your life.”
Diplomas were handed out to the seniors under heavy applause.
