Kendall Veach isn’t ready to end her storied softball career at Auburn University.
The Lady Tigers (37-19) face Colorado State in Game 1 of the Tucson Regional on Friday night at 8 p.m. in Tucson, Arizona. Arizona, which earned a No. 6 national seed, meets Harvard in the second contest.
Veach plays three positions for the Lady Tigers: catcher, first base and third base.
The former Morgan Academy All-star performer said she’s looking forward to the Tucson Regional, which has a double-elimination format.
“We’re really excited,” Veach said. “We’re going in as underdogs, so we really have no pressure on us. If we play Auburn softball, we’ll be good to go.”
Veach could either tie or break the school’s single-season home run mark this weekend. With 20 homers, she’s one away from sharing the mark.
The senior also leads the Lady Tigers with 48 RBI and 114 total bases, earning All-SEC second-team honors this season.
Should Auburn fail to advance into next weekend’s Super Regionals, Veach has a lot of wonderful memories playing for the Lady Tigers, the 2016 Women College World Series’ runner-up.
“My career at Auburn has been one experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything,” Veach said. “Auburn is such a special place. Family is truly important here and I have made lasting friendships that will continue after college.”
Veach also excels in the classroom, earning All-SEC academic honors multiple times during her collegiate career. She will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Minor in Sports Coaching. She has a 3.45 GPA.
