A bond hearing was held Monday for a Selma resident who allegedly made “terrorist threats” towards Selma Mayor Darrio Melton, other civic leaders, former elected officials and specific units within the Selma Police Department.

Dallas County District Court Judge Bob Armstrong set a $1 million bond on Ray Hall, 27. Hall was arrested around 3:40 p.m. Saturday.

SPD Chief Spencer Collier said the threats were made on social media. All of the posts were taken down.

“Threats aimed at law enforcement are common and unfortunately, often come with the job,” Collier said. “However, the vile threats made against civic leaders, former elected officials and our mayor is unacceptable.”

Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said Hall also threatened  to shoot both former State Sen. Hank Sanders and his wife, Rose Sanders on Facebook.

Jackson agrees with Collier.

“You cannot threaten to kill public citizens,” Jackson said.

Jackson said a second bond hearing for Hall will take place on May 14. He also said Hall’s preliminary hearing is set for June 4 at 1:30 p.m.
