The Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF) will host its annual Arts Grants Awards Ceremony this Saturday morning at Wallace Community College-Selma (WCCS).
Each year, BBCF provides funding to arts organizations and arts educators throughout its 12-county service area including Dallas, Wilcox, Marengo, Dallas, Perry, Pickens, Choctaw, Bullock, Sumter, Hale, Greene, Lowndes, and Macon counties.
This year, BBCF will be awarding 19 grants to organizations from across 12 counties for a total of $60,000 dollars.
Two arts education grants and 17 arts grants are being awarded.
BBCF Board Member, Lillian Wideman, will officiate this year’s ceremony.
“Having served on the Arts Committee for many years I truly believe that the counties we serve have grown in the field of Arts,” said Wideman. “We have brightened the lives of so many by exposing the people in our communities to the different categories found in the arts. We have given people the voice to share ideas and ideals and to bring exposure where it may not have been possible. As the mission of the BBCF, we have truly taken what we have to make what we need. It’s important to fight to keep funding for arts programs throughout our 12 counties we serve but also the entire state of Alabama.”
The 2019 BBCF Arts Grants Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at WCCS in the Hank Sanders Technology Center.
