Four Selma High senior softball players were honored on Tuesday night at the Dallas County Youth Sportsplex.
Selma lost to Greensboro 28-16 as Ronia Gorden, Mariah Davis, Arianna Quiala and Janice Sanders played their next-to-last home game. The quartet were honored in a ceremony after the contest.
Zamiyah White drove in five runs for the Lady Saints, including a three-run triple. Janice Sanders and Mariah Davis each drove in three runs. The other Selma runs came off Greensboro wild pitches, walks and fielding errors.
Despite a 2-10 record, Selma High coach Cepada Lewis said the Lady Saints can still reach the postseason.
“Our season’s not over,” Lewis said. “We have the area tournament next Monday and Tuesday at Stanhope Elmore. All we need is one win and we’re in the playoffs. But its up to the girls.”
Selma High travels to Greensboro in a rematch Thursday and faces crosstown rival Southside Friday at the Dallas County Sportsplex.
