A Cystic Fibrosis Fundraising event will be held at the historic White Force Cottage today, Thursday, April 24.

The annual fundraiser has been put on the last five years by mother-daughter team Kay Swift and Kaylee McWherter.

Joyce’s Catering at White Force Cottage loans them the space to hold the fundraiser each year.

All the money collected from the fundraiser will go directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for the disease through research.

The cause is close to the heart of the two women.

“My son has Cystic Fibrosis, so there’s an emotional connection,” said McWherter.

The fundraising event is an all-day affair, providing people with plenty of opportunity to support the cause, no matter their schedule.

The day begins with a bake sale at 8 a.m. featuring cakes, bread, pies and cookies.

From 11 a.m.-2 p.m. chicken salad plates will be sold for $9.

Later that evening a silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. in which patrons can bid on a television, furniture, pottery, art and kitchen goods.
