No. 1 Morgan Academy hammers Lowndes Academy

Gunnar Henderson hit a home run and drove in five runs as top-ranked Morgan Academy hammered Lowndes Academy 10-2 on Monday night.

Henderson, an Auburn University signee, also tripled for the unbeaten Senators (24-0).

Brayton Brown shined on the mound and at the plate for Morgan Academy. He singled and doubled, driving in a pair of runs.  On the mound, Brown was the winning pitcher, allowing a run on just two hits.

Andrew Thomas also pitched for Morgan Academy and allowed a run.

Matthew Davis had a hit and scored twice for Morgan Academy, ranked No. 1 in the AISA Baseball poll.

Morgan Academy grabbed an early 2-1 first inning lead. Brayton Brown’s RBI single and a groundout by Miliam Turner.

In the second inning, Henderson’s RBI triple and Brown’s RBI double were the Senators’ runs.

Morgan Academy scored three runs in the sixth inning, all coming on Henderson’s three-run homer.

Nolen Ledbetter was the losing pitcher for Lowndes Academy. He allowed five hits and six runs over three innings and struck out three before being replaced.
