Bicentennial grant unites Orrville resources

On Tuesday night, a grant brought the town of Orrville together to celebrate Blues music and community.

What started as a project to teach students about the roots of Blues music ended up including the Orrville Farmer’s Market providing the perfect setting for a night of music and amazing food.

The time that performers Debbie Bond, Radiator Rick, Marcus “Jukeman” Lee, Carla Don Edwards and Rachel Edwards took to work with the Salem Elementary School students and teach them the importance of the Blues genre is admirable.

This grant showed the teamwork that is possible in communities between the education system and a local business is what we should all take an example from.

The students were able to show their newly learned skills that the artists taught them, and now the farmer’s market has another event that we can all look forward to for years to come now.

The Bicentennial grants are something to be happy about.

It allows places such as ours to have events like this that we wouldn’t normally have, and like the Crawfish Boil, introduces events that we will have again as time goes on.

Thank you, everyone, who was involved with this event. It brought a lot of good to the area.
