A Selma resident was sentenced to 57 months in prison for possession of a firearm.
According to U.S. Attorney Richard W. Moore, Jadarius Moore, 25, was charged with possession of a .40 caliber Glock pistol.
Moore, 25, entered a guilty plea to a plea agreement on Dec. 18, 2018. Moore admitted in open court on Jan. 19 that a Selma Police Department (SPD) officer saw him in the Vaughn hospital parking lot driving a white Dodge truck.
The officer believed Moore had outstanding arrest warrants and attempted to stop him by activating the police vehicle’s emergency lights. Moore sped away in his vehicle in an effort to flee the police. As he fled, Moore threw a pistol and white substance out of the driver’s side window.
The officer radioed that a gun and a white substance was thrown out of Moore’s vehicle and the location of the items. After speeding for a few blocks, Moore stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. The Officer stopped and used a K-9 to track Moore. After searching for 100 yards, the K-9 located Moore under a vacant building.
Officers called to Moore to come out and give himself up. Moore did so and was arrested. The pistol was recovered, but not the white substance which was splattered in the wind. The firearm was a .40 caliber Glock pistol.
Moore had a previous arrest record in Dallas County. He was convicted of first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana on Sept. 29, 2014 in the Dallas County Circuit Court.
TheBureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) assisted the SPD with the investigation and brought the case to the U.S. Attorney’s office for prosecution.
