As May quickly approaches, many young people are wondering what the next step in their future should be. College? Training? A job?

Selma Career Center hopes to answer some of those questions on young people’s minds with Parents and Seniors Night Out next Thursday at 5 p.m.

Graduating seniors will have the opportunity to bring their parents by the Career Center and learn together about the opportunities that the Career Center provides for young people looking to begin their Careers.

“Parents are very important,” said Clifford Hunter, Manager at the Selma Career Center. “They play a vital, key role in their children’s lives. They should be aware of the opportunities that exist for their children.”

The Career Center will have information about the various financial aid they offer for education and technical programs at Wallace Community College – Selma.

“We promote Wallace because they’re local, but of course we’re happy to help get students in programs at other schools if Wallace doesn’t offer them,” said Hunter.

Human resource officers and managers from local businesses will also be at the event to discuss what employers look for in ideal job candidates.

“I truly feel like I’m in a position to help somebody make a difference. We’re here to help people get themselves to the next level. If we can raise the awareness of the positive things we do here [at the Career Center] I believe we’ll see a positive change in the community,” added Hunter.

Parents and Seniors Night Out is free to attend and refreshments will be served.
