The Dallas County Board of Education held their monthly meeting for February on Thursday night.

Brenda Turner, the Chief Financial School Officer (CFSO) delivered the monthly financial statement and bank reconciliation for January.

“Our Alabama tax collected for January was $157,791. This $38,133 more than what the first four months of last year was, so we’re a little ahead,” said Turner.

“Our one month reserve right now is $2,220,771.00. Usually, in February we meet with the state department to get an update on our one moth reserve but they have not sent us notice yet so they must be running a little behind.”

Turner then updated the board about the January reserve.

“The one month reserve [for January] is $3,534,322. All of the property taxes have been payed, so it goes down every month. But we’ve got a bigger jump that last year so I hope we can make our one month reserve,” she said.

Chairman Leroy Miles commended Turner on getting the reserve under control.

“It takes everyone in the system,” said Turner.
