Selma High football coach and Athletic Director Christopher Raymond has decided to become coach at LeFlore High School in Mobile.

Raymond, who coached the last two years for the Saints, returns to his alma mater. He is a 1988 graduate of LeFlore High School and coached the Rattlers from 2008-2011.

Raymond said family played a big role in his decision to leave the Queen City.

“In December, my sister died of cancer, my mother was staying with her,” Raymond said. “My mother is 79 years old. My wife is from the area and her mother’s getting old too.”

The return to LeFlore was too great to pass up, Raymond said.

“It’s a chance to go back home to your alma mater,” Raymond said.

Raymond said a timetable hasn’t been set for his departure. He also said he’ll remain at Selma High until the school year ends, unless the Selma City Schools think otherwise.
