A Selma resident pled guilty to manslaughter and received a life sentence from a seven-year-old case on Monday at the Dallas County Courthouse.
Darrie Dewayne Dees, 44, pled guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to life by Circuit Court Judge Collins A. Pettaway.
The incident occurred outside a Sports bar at the 1200 block of Alabama avenue on the night of July 30, 2012. Several shots were fired and Dees was one of several individuals who ran from the scene. He was quickly stopped by law enforcement and police discovered him with an armed weapon. Dees was eventually charged with the murder of Joseph Senior.
Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said he’s glad to see crimes continuing to get solved.
“Darrie Dees was one of the Selma’s most dangerous gunslingers,” Jackson said. “He needs to pack his suitcase because he’s going to be sent off for a long time.”
