Morgan Academy defensive lineman Taylor Henderson will play in the Blue-Grey All-American bowl on Saturday in Tampa, Florida.

Kickoff for the all-star contest will be at 1:30 p.m. at Raymond-James Stadium, home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Henderson has enjoyed an outstanding postseason run. He played in the AISA All-Star game on Nov. 30 in Montgomery. He also made The Selma Times-Journal’s All Dallas County team and selected honorable mention All-State.

A three-year starter at Morgan, Henderson made 30 total tackles, four quarterback sacks and six tackles for loss as a senior.

Morgan Academy coach Josh Thacker said Henderson’s hard work and dedication made him a worthy selection for the contest.

“Taylor is a fantastic young man,” Thacker said. “His leadership, love for Morgan and love for his teammates is only rivaled by his love for the game. Taylor is a special young man that brightens everyone’s day by just being around him. As far as football goes, he’s a dominant force on the interior. He certainly has all the tools and skills to play at the next level.”

Faulkner and West Alabama have both expressed interest in Henderson, who stands at six-foot-two and weighs 310 pounds.

Morgan Academy went 9-3 last season and made the AISA state playoffs.
