Sturdivant Hall kicked off its annual Christmas Open House on Friday, which will run through Saturday.
“We’ve had a steady stream of visitors all day long,” said Mary Margaret Mims, Director of the museum. “It’s really been great.”
The Christmas tree for this year’s open house was donated by Stephens Christmas Tree Farm and decorated by Leika’s Kindergarten, Little Friends, Morgan Academy first graders and Emily Grace Mims.
Each room in the old house was decorated by “local talent.”
“They’ve just done a beautiful job,” Mims said.
The event is a longstanding tradition in Selma, but the museum has opened up and decorated the one bedroom plantation house on the property for the first time this year.
“It’s just a beautiful home and it’s fun to see what houses looked like in the olden days,” Mims said. “Everything is just so elegantly done.”
During the open house, visitors can tour the historic home for free.
Decorations will be up until Dec. 17.
