Thanksgiving is often a time dedicated for family and friends, but a few groups including one Selma City Councilman is making this a time to help complete strangers.

A church group and a sorority are joining the councilman in their own events in feeding those in need this Thanksgiving.

We commend these groups for taking this time to reach out to their neighbors in the city and county, and we encourage them to do more.

As Selma City Councilman Michael Johnson said, this isn’t a time to glorify ourselves. It is a time to concentrate on those less fortunate than us.

This mindset should not be confined to just this one time in November, but for the rest of the year as well.
