Bond set for Selma suspect in murder case

A bond hearing was held Tuesday for a Selma man in connection to a Nov. 9 murder.

Bond was set at $1 million Tuesday for Winston Harrison, 65, who was charged with murder in District Court Judge Bob Armstrong’s courtroom.

Harrison was arrested on Sunday for the murder of Ricky Dewayne Sanders, 42, also a Selma resident.

Sanders’ body was found on Friday, Nov. 9 around 7 a.m. on Lamar Avenue in Selma, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.

Selma Police Department (SPD) Chief Spencer Collier said he praised the hard work of criminal investigators for their persistence in leading to the arrest.

Harrison’s preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 4 at 1:30 p.m., according to Jackson.
