A victim’s body was found Friday morning on the block of 314 Lamar Avenue, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.

Around 7 a.m. Friday morning, Jackson said that the Selma Police Department (SPD) responded to the scene and found the body of Ricky Dewayne Sanders, 42. Sanders lives on the block of 514 Selma Avenue.

“The body was assaulted pretty bad and he was beat up with a brick,” Jackson said.

Jackson also said the body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science (ADFS) in Montgomery for an autopsy.

The SPD is investigating the case.

The murder count in Dallas County has increased to 16 for this year.
