Selma closes season with a win; Keith falls short

Amarian Molette ran for 206 yards and scored two touchdowns as Selma High thrashed LeFlore 38-8 on Thursday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
Quarterback Keondre Hope threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns as the Saints (3-7) closed the season with consecutive victories. Nicholas Parnell ran for 70 yards, had a receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown. Roszel Broadnax also had a touchdown reception.
Selma coach Christopher Raymond faced his alma mater, where he coached and played. He coached the Rattlers from 2008-2012.
“It felt great to come home and win,” Raymond said. “It’s a big win for us. It gives us motivation to start the spring on a positive note.”
R.C. Hatch 34, Keith 26: Kendarius Perry scored two touchdowns, including on an 80-yard kickoff return, but it was not enough as the Bears fell in Uniontown.
Quarterback Jared Edwards scored on a 1-yard touchdown run for Keith (4-6).
“The season didn’t go as expected,” Bears coach Anthony Lumpkin said. “We didn’t reach our goal of making the state playoffs. It was disappointing season.”
Lumpkin, however, said he found some bright spots.
“We found some younger guys who can play,” Lumpkin said. “We won’t hold our heads down. We’ll go into the offseason looking ahead to next year.”
