Ten cook teams and over 600 members and guests attended the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) and Kimber Manufacturing Selma Wild Game Cook-off last Thursday.

The teams prepared various dishes such as Seared Tuna Chowder, Smoked Dove Southwestern Wrap and Venison Phillycheese Pizza.

Co-Op Cut Ups won the top prize of Best Overall with their dish, Doves Done Right with Tomato Gravy.

The team including Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Jimmy Sims and Allison Ellison will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on Aug. 10, 2019 to compete for the title of AWF 2019 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.

Other winners included:

Fish Division: First Place – Hancock BBQ consisting Emily Hancock, Micah Bailey, David Small and Mary Hicks cooking Blackened Grouper Reuben; Second Place – Delta Waterfowl including Tripp Bowie, Justin Sumerlin, Chris Griffin and Josh Verhoff cooking Seared Tuna Chowder; Third Place – Co-Op Cutups consisting of Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Jimmy Sims and Allison Ellison cooking Crappie Stuffed Trout.

 Fowl Division: First Place – Co-Op Cutups consisting of Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Jimmy Sims and Allison Ellison cooking Doves Done Right with Tomato; Second Place – Outdoor Scholars Cook Team consisting Garret Deavers, Porter James, J.T. Russell and William Crawford cooking Fowl Jam; Third Place – Hancock BBQ consisting Emily Hancock, Micah Bailey, David Small and Mary Hicks cooking Smoked Dove Southwestern Wrap.

 Game Division: First Place – Hancock BBQ consisting Emily Hancock, Micah Bailey, David Small and Mary Hicks cooking Swamp & Turf; Second Place – Co-Op Cutups consisting of Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Jimmy Sims and Allison Ellison cooking Venison Phillycheese Pizza; Third Place – Delta Waterfowl including Tripp Bowie, Justin Sumerlin, Chris Griffin and Josh Verhoff cooking Deer Balls.

 Youth Division: First Place – The Goode Kids consisting of John David Goode, Laura Beth Goode cooking Venison Taco Scoops.

 Wind Creek Montgomery People’s Choice award went to The Goode Kids. Best Presentation went to Co-Op Cut Ups while Wind Creek Montgomery won Best Presentation Runner-Up.
