On Wednesday, Sen. Doug Jones, D-AL released a statement applauding the passage of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), which modernizes water infrastructure.

The history here is what keeps us relevant to the world because so much has happened in the area.

The historic landmarks along our riverbanks are what brings tourist to the area, which in turn, produces income for the area.

We need these landmarks in order to stay on the map.

We need these landmarks to still attract the money from the tourists that travel here.

There is so much potential in these landmarks for us to let them fade away.

This act ensures that a big piece of our history, which is also important to our future, remains intact.

We commend Jones and the other senators who voted 99-1 to pass this bill.
