BBQ on the Green cancelled due to Weather

Sturdivant Hall had a change of plans Thursday evening as the rain prevented guests from sitting on the grass for the museum’s annual Barbecue on the Green fundraiser.

Even with the bad weather, the staff’s smiles never left as they prepared to-go plates for ticket holders.

Each year, the organization hosts the event as their biggest fundraiser, and this year was no exception.

Board member Patti Currey said despite the rain, the fundraiser was still a success.

“We’ve never been rained out before, but this worked out just fine,” she said. “People have been very cooperative and understanding.”

All of the proceeds made from tickets sales directly benefit the historical museum.

Sturdivant Hall is more than just a museum; it is also host to many different events throughout the year.

Those events, as well as other fundraisers, help pay for the museum’s daily expenses.

Ticket supervisor Judy Moore said the board is thankful for the continued support.

“We just want to thank everyone that always supports us,” Moore said. “Sturdivant is a very important part of our history.”

The Sturdivant Hall staff would like to thank all of their cooperate sponsors and individual ticket holders.

The group is now hard at work planning its Artisan’s Fair which is scheduled for November.
