While the violent crimes in Selma continue to rise, there are groups who are sending out good thoughts and using the power of prayer in hopes to improve the city.

There are many groups out there that are wishing the city well and doing what they can, but the majority of them are only doing it as individuals.

Not that their efforts are in vain, but it can be argued that there is strength in numbers. We have so many groups wanting the same thing, which is for Selma to get better, but it is very rare that we see any groups partner with each other.

Coming together to achieve the common goal could be something that will help that goal become a reality.

With the most recent fatal shooting happening on Sunday, according to The Selma Times-Journal’s count, that brings the total fatal shootings this year to 11.

We can’t afford to work in solidarity anymore.

We encourage all of the groups fighting to make Selma a better place to come together to achieve the common goal they have.

Only through unity, could these goals even have a chance of being met.
