Food Truck Saturday returned Saturday with a long line of Dallas County residents lining up down the sidewalk at Play Selma Music on Water Avenue.
Dallas County sheriff-elect Mike Granthum, Sky Hill Animal Society Director Lynn Sanders
and Morgan Academy football coach Josh Thacker were among the high-profile residents in line to order from a delectable menu that included shrimp tacos, and shrimp and grits.
Thacker’s wife, Kayla Thacker, said the menu’s variety makes it special.
“All of the food’s wonderful at Tally-ho, we’ve had everything on their menu,” Kayla Thacker said.
“Their service is fantastic, anything from Tally-Ho is always great,” Josh Thacker said.
Granthum, who replaces Harris Huffman in January, left with a bag of four plates.
Sanders said it’s the new options that make the Food Truck great.
Bobbie Davis and her son Noel Davis, 12, relocated from Houston last year and quickly became big fans of the Food Truck.
“The food truck is something diverse and it’s something else to do in the city,” Bobbie Davis said. “It’s real big for the community.”
Food Truck event organizer Clay Carmichael, Secretary and Co-Founder of the Blackbelt Benefit Group said that the First Morning Art Walk inspired Food Truck Saturday.
“We’re teaming up with Artwork and we’re trying to be a bigger piece of that pie,” Carmichael said.
Carmichael said Uncle Clyde’s got a catering gig at the Voting Right Museum and he didn’t hear from the Ice Cream truck.
“I was pleased with the turnout we had today,” Carmichael said.
Food Truck Saturday will occur every first Saturday of each month.
