As the budget hearings for the Selma City move forward we are glad that talks of a new budget are even happening at all.

It wasn’t too long ago that the city was operating on the 2016-2017 budget and in March of this year, that budget expired.

After a few meetings over the past few months, it felt as if we would never even get to this part of the new budgeting process.

With the rejection of a budget already, the council has very little time left to stay focused on the goal of a new fiscal year budget.

There is still time to make a budget, and we hope that the time will be used wisely and that some type of teamwork and unity will happen to make this budget happen.
