Bill Newson, Jr., born November 18, 1945, in Selma passed away August 26, 2018.

He entered the USAF  in July of 1970 and served 21 years.  After his military retirement, he joined the Selma Fire Department and served 15 years.

Bill loved to hunt and fish and was given the nickname “Buckmaster.”  He loved his place on Lake Jordan. He, also, loved his family and his church family, especially his Sunday School class, Dick Bean, Get Ready Class.  He was a daily Bible reader and prayer person and had a close relationship with the Lord.

A full honors military funeral will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Eaton officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 5-7 p.m.  Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his beloved children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister and special friend and brother, John E. Ingram.

Honorary pallbearers will be Boyd Pugh, Keith King, Randy Small, Buddy Hagemann, Russell Jones and Andy Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Westwood Baptist Church Youth Dept., 4085 US Hwy. 80, Selma, AL 36701.
