The Selma Police Department arrested two suspects Wednesday night for robbery on Old Orrville Road.

Jared Edwards, 16 and Tyre Webster, 18, were both charged with first-degree robbery. They were each placed in jail on a $60,000 bond.

According to Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier, officers responded to the area of the block of 2300 Old Orrville Road at 10:23 p.m. Wednesday night.

A red Mustang, driven by Edwards and Webster, was parked in the yard of an abandon residence, according to Collier.

Sgt. Blanks parked and observed the vehicle. He noticed observed a Domino’s Pizza delivery vehicle drive-by multiple times in what appeared to be a delivery.

“As the delivery vehicle drove past the vehicle flashed their lights in what appeared to be an attempt to gain the delivery vehicle’s attention,” Collier said. “Once the delivery car passed, Blanks initiated the traffic stop and more patrol units responded to assist him on the call. Officer Tyus was among them.”

Collier said the SPD Criminal Investigation Detectives had been patrolling Old Orrville Road with the increase of crimes recently in that area. The Domino’s Pizza delivery guy was the most recent robbery.

“Once Detective McGhee arrived at Domino’s, he spoke with the Delivery Guy,” Collier said. “The complainant stated on Aug. 8 at approximately 9:42 p.m., someone placed an order at Domino’s for a pizza using a phone number verified as being Jared Edwards. The order was supposed to be delivered to 2311 Old Orrville Road. The complainant stated before leaving the store, he called the number to inform them he was on the way with the delivery and would be there within six and eight minutes.

“The complainant advised the caller and requested the delivery location be changed. The complainant further stated he continued driving on Old Orrville Road attempting to reestablish contact with the caller a total of three times to no availability. He stated he then contacted his manager and informed them of what was going on, that’s when the manager advised him to return Domino’s. Tyre and Jared both were taken into custody and transported to the Selma City Jail for questioning.”

The SPD found a black rusted .38 Special Revolver with four live rounds inside the vehicle Edwards and Webster were driving, according to reports.
