Edmunite Missions ended their summer kids camp with the New Possibilities Youth Program on a high note.

Ninety-five kids participated in the month-long camp. The Edmunite Missions taught them about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) based initiatives and programs, and about Alabama’s history.

The kids came from Dallas, Wilcox, Lowndes and Monroe counties, but mainly stuck to venues between Selma and Montgomery.

Their trips included Alabama State University and the Alabama Wildlife Federation Nature Center.

The camp was led by Edmunite CEO/President Chad McEachern and Programs Director Grover Henry.

“For the third year in a row, our program was nothing less than outstanding,” Henry said in a release. “There is no doubt in my mind that they’ll return to school more confident and academically advanced.

Edmunite will now focus on its after-school program, which gets underway next month. Last year’s after-school program had 44 participants and the number could increase.

“Our next step is to retain that cohort of students for our After-School Program that will start after Labor Day,” Henry said.
