Dallas County School Board approves upcoming year’s capital plan

The Dallas County School Board of Education approved their ongoing capital project list for renovations in the district.

Dallas County Superintendent Hattie Shelton that all costs presented are estimates, and that these projects will be done as funds become available.

The top priority on the list is Dallas County Board of Education’s renovations with an estimated $80,000.

According to forms provided by school board members, the funding year for this project is 2019.

Other 2019 possible projects should funds become available include roofing work on Southside High School at an estimated $40,000, renovations at Keith Middle-High School at an estimated $75,000, renovations at Tipton-Durant Middle School at an estimated $28,000, renovations at Salem Elementary School at an estimated $40,000, renovations at Southside High School at an estimated $25,000, additions also at Southside High School at an estimated $45,000 and HVAC work at the Dallas County Board of Education at an estimated $400,000.

The list also shows funding year targets for 2020.

In 2020, possible projects include HVAC work at an estimated $400,000 at the Dallas County Board of Education, renovations at Southside Primary School at $150,000, renovations at Valley Grande Elementary School at $100,000, land improvements at Southside High School at $125,000 and land improvements at Keith Middle-High School at $125,000.

In 2021, Another $400,000 for HVAC repairs at the Dallas County Board of Education is listed. Other 2021 items include renovations at Tipton-Durant Middle School at $50,000, renovations at JE Terry Elementary School at $45,000 and additions to Valley Grande Elementary School at $300,000.

In 2022, the list includes another $400,000 at Dallas County Board of Education and land improvements at the board at $200,000.

There is only one item in 2023 listed, which is HVAC repair at the board of education at $400,000.

Again, Shelton said that these project costs are all estimates, and will be done as funds are available.
