Students at United for the City hosted a Backyard Bible Club on Hamilton Street on Thursday.

According to a press release, the event gave students a chance to exercise their mission to share the gospel with others.

Jordan Harrison, a student camper with United For The City, said that this camp has been “an amazing week.”

“Our leaders have been working hard to equip us to be ready to share the Gospel of Jesus and make disciples that follow Him,” Harrison said. “We have spent each day by serving in our ministry teams, which range from helping at All In Sports Outreach Basketball Camps to painting doors and doing yard work at the schools.

“We have had so many opportunities to be the light of Jesus in our city and serve in places that we have never been before,” said Harrison. “It is crazy to think that just a year ago, we were dreaming up United, and now it is almost over. It has been great.”

Harrison said that getting the change to share God’s love and lead by example in Selma is an opportunity that all of the students are grateful for.

“Our prayer is that the small seeds we have planted in the lives that we have served will start a chain reaction, and that they will make disciples of Jesus for themselves,” Harrison said. “The impacts that we have made in their lives are so much smaller than the ones that they have made in ours. Their faces, stories and the love of God will be something that we carry with us forever. Thank you, Selma, for opening your doors, and allowing us to unite and serve our community. This is only the beginning; we are united in Christ.”
