The Social Ministry team has spent the last two days visiting Park Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Blue Ridge Healthcare, and the BOSCO Nutritional Center as part of the United For The City 2018 camp.

United For the City has brought together churches from as near as Selma and as far away as Huntsville and Nashville, Tennessee, to serve locally. Each day, youth on mission teams spread out over the community to share the love of Christ, according to a press release.

The Apostle John wrote, “Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth,” the release stated.

The team has painted birdhouses and served alongside Edmundite Missions staff in the kitchen.

“The highlight of the week so far has been the opportunity to lead a worship service, complete with hymns, prayer, scripture reading, and a devotional at BOSCO,” according to the release. “The service was planned and lead entirely by youth. Tuesday morning found the team sharing the biblical story of Apostle Paul and his impact despite once persecuting the early Christian Church.

“Despite the long days and sleeping on the floor, the students are eagerly looking forward to continuing their mission today and Thursday,” according to the release. “Through local mission projects, afternoon disciple-making training, nightly worship and small group time, and fun activities, United hopes to encourage youth to grow in their faith and develop a lifestyle of service.”
