All-In Sports Outreach has partnered with United for the City to hold its fourth annual summer basketball camp at Edgewood Elementary School and Meadowview Christian School. The camp began on Monday, June 25 and will continue through Thursday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to noon everyday.

The camp is free to all that attend and open to ages 6-18.

Jonathan “JB” Brown, youth pastor at Elkdale Baptist Church, and one of the leaders for United for the City said that the idea comes from Colossians 3:17.

“In whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father in Heaven,” Brown quoted the verse.

“While focus of the camp is to provide quality basketball instruction to boys and girls, the main goal is to share the Gospel message of Christ’s love to the campers,” said Brown. “Through faith-based talks and memory verses, campers are being positively influenced by the love of Christ.

“Through the partnership with United for the City, youth from Selma have joined with others from Huntsville and Nashville, Tennessee, to serve in the community,” said Brown. “The youth are taking on the responsibilities of setting up the camp site each day, assisting in basketball drills, leading the faith-based talks and building relationships with the campers. It is the hope of All-In Sports Outreach and United for the City that the community of Selma will be positively and eternally impacted through service in the name of Christ.”
