Much like the adult city council, the youth city council meets once a month to discuss future plans for the city.

As an effort to raise funds for further events, the talent show idea was discussed and decided on during one of the council’s meetings
.
There are 50 spaces available for participants and auditions will be held at noon of May 26 at the Riverfront Amphitheater.

All individuals auditioning should be at least 11 years of age. Mayor of the Youth City Council, Tiffany Howard, said the event is not only a chance to raise funds, but also a chance to witness local talent. She said the council welcomes all talent, as long as it is appropriate for all audiences.

“We’re looking forward to seeing all the different acts and all the the different talents that everyone will bring,” Howard said.

Howard sees the talent show as an opportunity for local youth to network and build character while having a good time.

“Hopefully [the participants] gain more character and they can get to know each other, gain new friends and be confident in what they do,” Howard said.
